Voice of the theater laying on the floor

OK I just un-assembled by dads voice of the theater speakers, and the 12" woofers look like new. I know they are old (1978?) look great the suround is a fabric with a black sticky emulsion (shineyblack and no finger prints!) Should I send these out to be tested to get their specs,(where?) I would like to use them in the living room as a sub (depending how they test). The Horns are big and I don't know if they can be used any place(maybe the HT?) Any ideas would be great.

You want help we need details!!

VOTT presumes A5-7 825-828 cab with either 515 or 416 15" LF driver. Horn either 811 0r 511 and Compression driver 800 series or 288 series.

You need to specify what you have...Wether alnico or ferrite LF drivers since not sure of actual year (1978?) and wether A5 or A7 or A7-500??

Dad Built these as well as our heathkit color TV amps, recievers etc.
Horns = 511B
Drivers = 802-8G
Woofers? = 50-03-023691
High Frequency Attenuation = N501-8A

These are just a little too big for the living room and probably not a fit for the HT. Nine cubic feet, I was hoping to build a different type of enclosure? Maybe TL or sealed?

Those components go into the A7-500. That is the large 828 cab but you are describing a 10 cubic foot cab which is not the 828. Does the cab have a horn midrange with a large vent below or is it just a box with a couple of vents? Additionally the LF driver #s are not really usable to me but it should be a 515= 15" woofer or perhaps a 416 and it should be clearly marked as such. Either way if what you have is a 10 cubic foot vented box with 15" driver and 511 horn and the 802-8G small format big magnet tangerine phase plug compression driver consider yourself lucky. You will have a hard time making this any more compact than it is or getting something that sounds better. Forget about TL or sealed boxes it will not make them smaller or sound better. These speakers can be used for anything including HT, DJ. I don't know your room needs or space but they are a family heirloom and you should try to keep them if possible. You will kick yourself in the future for not having done so!! If you need further help just ask and if want to sell let me know.
